CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry (White Card)
This course specifies the mandatory work health and safety training required prior to undertaking construction work – it must be completed before entering a building and construction work site. The course requires participants to demonstrate personal awareness and knowledge of health and safety legislative requirements in order to work safely and prevent injury or harm to self and others. It covers identifying and orally reporting common construction hazards, understanding basic risk control measures, and identifying procedures for responding to potential incidents and emergencies. It also covers correctly selecting and fitting common personal protective equipment (PPE) used for construction work. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS There are no entry requirements for this course. It is recommended that participants have at least a Year 8 level of numeracy, literacy and communication skills. DELIVERY This course is delivered and assessed over a period of six (6) hours in a face-to-face classroom environment. Course duration may vary depending on the class size. UNITS OF COMPETENCY There is one (1) core unit of competency associated with this course: CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry ASSESSMENT REQUIREMENTS Participants will be required to successfully complete a series of assessment tasks which include a theory exam and practical demonstration / observation. Once participants have successfully completed the training and assessment, the RTO will issue a Statement of Attainment as evidence that they have completed the training, as well as a general construction induction card (white card). Participants should keep the Statement of Attainment in the event that they need to replace their card in the future. To replace a white card applicants need provide a declaration of the circumstances in which the card was lost, stolen or destroyed, as well as the Statement of Attainment for either of the following units of competency: CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry, or CPCCOHS1001A Work safely in the construction industry HOW TO ENROL Interested applicants should download a copy of the Student Enrolment Form from the website, complete and submit it along with payment and the required Evidence of Identity (EOI) documentation outlined overleaf.
