Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ) Funding

As a Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ) registered training supplier, we provide training that is supported by CSQ funding

 

 

 

 

Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ) is an independent industry-funded body supporting employers, workers, apprentices and career seekers in the building and construction industry.

If you are currently working in the Queensland building and construction industry you may be eligible for CSQ funded training to advance or expand your skills under one of the CSQ programs listed here:

 

  • Short course program

    The Short Courses program provides funding to assist with upskilling and cross skilling existing and unemployed eligible workers in the building and construction industry.  Short Courses are individual competencies and skills sets designed to provide  flexible solutions to workers wanting to update their skills and knowledge to meet the  licensing, regulatory and safety requirements of the industry.

    This contract period, participants are eligible for  (8) General Construction Short Courses and (3) Civil Construction Short Courses.

    Eligibility for the Short Course General Construction program:

    To be eligible for the Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ) Short Courses program, individuals must:

    • must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, a permanent resident of Australia or hold a refugee and humanitarian visa
    • must permanently reside in Queensland or be permanently employed in Queensland
    • must be an existing and eligible worker in the building and construction industry who has had a one month or more employment relationship with their employer. The working relationship can be built up through full-time, part-time or casual employment or engagement as a contract worker OR an Unemployed Eligible Worker who has been unemployed for a period of not greater than 6 months
    • cannot be an employee of any Authority (excludes employees of an Indigenous Council that is a Principal Contractor)
    • cannot be a contracted trainer or assessor or existing worker of a Registered Training Organisation
    • cannot be currently enrolled and participating in a Queensland secondary school program (excluding a school based Apprentice or Trainee)
    • cannot have been previously funded under this program, with any RTO, for eight (8) short courses in the same contract period (CSQ contract year is 1 October to 30 September)
    • cannot have been funded by an Authority for delivery of the same training being undertaken as a part of this program
    • cannot be seeking a Verification of Competency or Determination of Competency services

    Eligibility for the CSQ Short Course Civil Construction program:

    To be eligible for the Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ) Short Courses program, individuals must:

    • must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, a permanent resident of Australia or hold a refugee and humanitarian visa
    • must permanently reside in Queensland or be permanently employed in Queensland
    • must be an existing and eligible worker in the building and construction industry who has had a one month or more employment relationship with their employer. The working relationship can be built up through full-time, part-time or casual employment or engagement as a contract worker OR an Unemployed Eligible Worker who has been unemployed for a period of not greater than 6 months
    • cannot be currently enrolled and participating in a Queensland secondary school program (excluding a school based Apprentice or Trainee)
    • cannot be a contracted trainer or assessor or existing worker of a Registered Training Organisation
    • cannot have been previously funded under this program, with any RTO, for three (3) short courses in the same contract period (CSQ contract year is 1 October to 30 September)

  • Skills Assessment and Gap Training Program (General and Civil Construction)

    If you work in the general construction workforce or the civil construction workforce, and have learnt  skills on the job but don’t hold a formal qualification, the  Skills Assessment and Gap Training (SAGT) program may be suited to you.

    Eligibility for the Skills Assessment and Gap Training General program:

    • must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, a permanent resident of Australia or hold a refugee and humanitarian visa
    • must permanently reside in Queensland or be permanently employed in Queensland
    • must be an existing and eligible worker in the building and construction industry who has had a one month or more employment relationship with their employer. The working relationship can be built up through full-time, part-time or casual employment or engagement as a contract worker OR a career seeker who holds previous experience in the building and construction industry
    • cannot be an employee of any Authority (excludes employees of an Indigenous Council that is a Principal Contractor)
    • cannot be currently enrolled and participating in a QLD secondary school program
    • cannot be an Apprentice or Trainee
    • cannot be a contracted trainer or assessor or existing worker of an RTO
    • cannot be previously funded under this program in the same contract term
    • cannot be funded by an Authority or such other source for delivery of the same training being undertaken as part of this program

     

    Eligibility for the Skills Assessment and Gap Training Civil program:

    • must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, a permanent resident of Australia or hold a refugee and humanitarian visa
    • must permanently reside in Queensland or be permanently employed in Queensland
    • must be an existing and eligible worker in the building and construction industry who has had a one month or more employment relationship with their employer. The working relationship can be built up through full-time, part-time or casual employment or engagement as a contract worker OR a career seeker who holds previous experience in the building and construction industry
    • cannot be currently enrolled and participating in a QLD secondary school program
    • cannot be an Apprentice or Trainee
    • cannot be a contracted trainer or assessor or existing worker of an RTO
    • cannot be previously funded under this program in the same contract term
    • cannot be funded by an Authority or such other source for delivery of the same training being undertaken as part of this program

  • Higher Level Skills Program (General and Civil Construction)

    The Higher Level Skills program provides nationally accredited qualifications including Certificate IV and Diploma and is targeted to assist participants in career development to help you gain new skills and knowledge.

     

    Eligibility for the Higher Level Skills Program (General):

    • must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, a permanent resident of Australia or hold a refugee and humanitarian visa
    • must permanently reside in Queensland or be permanently employed in Queensland
    • must be an existing and eligible worker in the building and construction industry who has had a one month or more employment relationship with their employer. The working relationship can be built up through full-time, part-time or casual employment or engagement as a contract worker OR an Unemployed Eligible Worker who has been unemployed for a period of not greater than 6 months
    • can be an Apprentice in the 3rd or 4th year of the apprenticeship
    • cannot be an employee of any Authority (excludes employees of an Indigenous Council that is a Principal Contractor)
    • cannot be a contracted trainer or assessor or an existing worker of a Registered Training Organisation
    • cannot be currently enrolled and participating in a Queensland secondary school program
    • cannot have been funded by an Authority or such other source for delivery of the same training being undertaken as part of this Program
    • cannot be previously funded under this program in the same Contract Term

     

    Eligibility for the Higher Level Skills Program (Civil):

    • must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, a permanent resident of Australia or hold a refugee and humanitarian visa
    • must permanently reside in Queensland or be permanently employed in Queensland
    • must be an existing and eligible worker in the building and construction industry who has had a one month or more employment relationship with their employer. The working relationship can be built up through full-time, part-time or casual employment or engagement as a contract worker OR an Unemployed Eligible Worker who has been unemployed for a period of not greater than 6 months
    • cannot be currently enrolled and participating in a Queensland secondary school program
    • cannot be a contracted trainer or assessor or an existing worker of a Registered Training Organisation
    • cannot have been previously funded under this Program in the same Contract Term
    • cannot have been funded by an Authority or such other source for delivery of the same Training being undertaken as part of this program
